Birk was the top golfer for Oregon State University. Among his accomplishments during this time, Birk was a NCAA All-American, nominated First Team All Pac-10 with Tiger Woods, he won the Pacific Coast Amateur, the PNGA Championship, and finished second in the Pac-10 championships in both 1994 & 1996.
